His entire perspective of life vanished the moment his tribe faded away. Lucian wasn't prepared for the day his elven village died out, only leaving behind the fond memories of weaving on the loom together. Forced to build himself a new path forward, Lucian learnt the art of archery, which, in return, gave himself a new purpose in life. Despite his drastic change in lifestyle, his passion for art weaves its way into smaller aspects of his life.
Lucian is reserved and passionate, only allowing very few to peek into his personal life. As a silent empathetic, Lucian prefers to listen into conversations rather than taking part in them, withholding himself from vulnerability. At times, he'll allow himself the opportunity to reveal himself to someone, with the chance of revealing the deepest parts of himself. In an unhealthy state, when his dreams shatter, he becomes depressed and self-isolating. Eventually, his isolation from people morphs into isolation from reality. Tormented by morbid thoughts of self-contempt, he turns self-destructive and obsessive over his distorted ideas.
From a young age, Lucian was surrounded by elder elves. He was born into the tribal village of Enstilvia on the mountain's edge, where a waterfall is visible from afar. The Enstilvians were an isolated tribe satisfied with the company of their small community. Although not immortal, their lifespan outpaced that of an ordinary elven tribe, able to live for five thousand years. However, their age becomes apparent as their grey hair emerges after four thousand years. Due to their long-lasting lifespan and focus on artistry, Enstilvians delay their parenthood, leaving them with fewer children. This continued pattern led to many Enstilvians being unable to have children. Lucian was born to be the youngest elf of the Enstilvia tribe, a title that never left him.
The elder Enstilvians blessed Lucian with naivete and hid the impending fate of the tribe from him. They wanted to protect their youngest elf from sadness, knowing he would be the last Enstilvian one day. They did as they promised themselves, showering him with love and showing him a world where only art is born. Though his mother and father were present, his grandfather took a special place in his heart. Lucian and his grandfather spent each day on the loom machine, weaving any pattern imaginable on the loom with the company of the clicks and rattles of their machine. Lucian didn’t want anything to change.
The elder Enstilvians devoted all of themselves to showing Lucian the joy of life, they lost the ability to teach him the sadness that came along with it. For each year that passed from his 15th birthday, a familiar face would vanish without explanation. His heart ached, but he didn’t know why. At his 18th, the community was drastically smaller. Lucian finally confronted the tribal leader about his worries, but they dismissed him. Confusion and longing only clouded his heart, unable to trust his judgement. He continued his regular sessions with his grandfather.
Only ten Enstilvians remained in the village, yet none spoke about the elephant in the room. Lucian spent his days in his bedroom, scared to lose another Enstilvian, to doubt another memory. Lucian knew the truth in his heart, he couldn’t stand the lies told by fellow Enstilvians - even his grandfather. Lucian could only distract himself with sketches, spending entire days drawing as he sacrificed his sleep. The village became quiet, avoidant of songs that often played on the harp. At midnight, a knock was heard on Lucian’s door. It was his grandfather. For the first time in months, He sat down with Lucian and took his hand. His grandfather admitted the truth of the situation and asked for forgiveness, only for Lucian to hug him. Lucian didn’t want any of this to happen.
A year passed and Lucian was the last to remain in the village. Though alone, the weight of sadness was lifted from his heart. Lucian continued his routine, looming on the machine and playing on the harp, but the village’s supplies eventually ran short. The pencils and threads of the looms were deteriorated, and Lucian realised the village he knew was gone. Forced to find his path, Lucian set out into the world, starving and without money. He encountered men who were recruiting knights and offered himself to the Schwan kingdom.
